DIY MASTERCLASS – 1 DAY

What will I do in this course?

This One Day Workshop is the starting point for gaining the skills and knowledge that you need to tackle a range of DIY projects and free yourself from the “Tradie Wait.” During this course you will:

• Learn which power tools to buy and what they should be used for
• Practise with those tools, learning how to cut, saw, hammer and drill properly
• Learn how to choose the right kind of timber for your job
• HANDS ON PROJECT: Make your own wooden shelf
• Learn how to attach your shelf to a wall

What will I be able to do after the course?

• Buy the right tools when you next go into Bunnings
• Use a range of tools correctly and safely
• Measure, mark and cut materials correctly
• Correctly install your brand-new wooden shelf

What will I do in this course?

This One Day Workshop contains essential skills and knowledge that you will need to tackle a range of DIY projects and free yourself from the “Tradie Wait.” During this course you will learn:

• A step-by-step guide for installing new taps and shower heads.
• How to replace faulty washers or O-rings
• How to use plastering tools correctly
• How to correctly patch and repair holes and imperfections in plaster walls
• HANDS ON PROJECT – replace a washer, change a tap and repair a hole in plaster

What will I be able to do after the course?

• Repair a dripping tap or change a washer
• Install a new shower head or tap in your own bathroom
• Repair a hole in the plaster of your own walls at home

What will I do in this course?

This One Day Workshop contains essential skills and knowledge that you will need to tackle a range of DIY tiling projects and free yourself from the “Tradie Wait.” During this course you will learn:

• How to correctly measure and lay out tiles
• How to correctly prepare the surface for the tiles
• Different way of cutting tiles
• How to place and space tiles like a pro
• How to grout tiles
• HANDS ON PROJECT – complete a small tiled project including measuring, cutting, placing, spacing and grouting your tiles

What will I be able to do after the course?

• Work out how many tiles you need for your own project
• How to cut tiles and then place them evenly
• How to grout your tiles correctly

What will I do in this course?

This One Day Workshop contains essential skills and knowledge that you will need to tackle a range of DIY painting projects and free yourself from the “Tradie Wait.” During this course you will learn:

• How to correctly prepare surfaces for painting
• What different kinds of painting tools are used for
• Introduction to sanding and finishing materials
• Tips and tricks for repurposing wooden furniture with paint or stain
• HANDS ON PROJECT – prepare and paint a section of plaster wall and cornice, sand and paint a wooden tray to take home

What will I be able to do after the course?

• Complete your own painting projects: including patching holes, and applying joint compound
• Repair and repaint walls and surfaces

Students must:

• Be 18 years or older: or 12 years + with a parent helper
• Be physically capable of performing basic DIY work
